As part of the 2022 NFL schedule being released, teams also had their schedules for the upcoming preseason revealed. The Denver Broncos will open the preseason on August 13.

The NFL will open its 2022 season with the annual Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, August 4 when the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Las Vegas Raiders. The Denver Broncos will open their preseason less than 10 days later.

That will be on Saturday, August 13 against the Dallas Cowboys in a game played at Empower Field. Now that the NFL has increased its regular season to 17 games, it has reduced the preseason to just three games.

The full preseason schedule for the Broncos looks like this:

August 13: Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos

August 20: Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills

August 27: Minnesota Vikings at Denver Broncos

It is hard to say when the Broncos will play their starters and for how long or which of these games will be viewed as the “dress rehearsal” for the regular season. The last preseason game may be better to give players on the roster bubble their chance to shine.

The Broncos will have about two weeks between the final preseason game against the Vikings and the regular-season opener on Sunday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks.

With that being said, we are just about three short months away from the return of football in the Mile High City and seeing Russell Wilson in a Broncos uniform for the first time.

In recent years, the Broncos have had quarterbacks battling for the starting job in the preseason. With Wilson already having that spot nailed down for as long as he wants it in all likelihood, it will be a completely different atmosphere in the preseason this year and the Broncos will be able to sit back and evaluate other key positions rather than having to spend so much time wondering who will be the starting quarterback.
