Three reasons Denver Broncos can win AFC West in 2022

3. Recent success of QBs with new teams

The recent success of quarterbacks with new teams is a favorable thing for the Denver Broncos.

As we know, Tom Brady left the Patriots after the 2019 season and went to the Buccaneers.  In the two years since he joined Tampa Bay, the Bucs have gone 24-9 in the regular season and 5-1 in the playoffs.

In 2020, Matthew Stafford left the Lions and went to the Los Angeles Rams, who then went 12-5 in the regular season and ran through their opponents to a Super Bowl title.

Both the 2019 Buccaneers and 2020 Rams have a lot in common with the 2021 Denver Broncos.

All three teams boasted very good rosters that were extremely limited by average or bad quarterback play.

Why can’t we expect Denver to have the same year one success that Tampa Bay and Los Angeles did?

I think the argument that the division is going to be too tough for the Denver Broncos to win is a bad argument.

The Rams, in 2021, in their first year with Matthew Stafford under center, won a division that had the Cardinals going 11-6, and the San Francisco 49ers going 10-7.

Am I supposed to believe that Russell Wilson, a Super Bowl champion and absolute stud of a quarterback, can’t guide the best team he’s been on to a division title?

In every year of his career outside of 2021, Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to an either first or second-place finish in their division.

And in seven out of his 10 years in the NFL, Wilson has played in a division with at least two teams sporting double-digit wins in the regular season.

The Denver Broncos can win the AFC West in 2022.
