Denver Broncos Day 3 mock draft: Rounds 6-7

206. Grant Calcaterra, TE, SMU

The former Oklahoma Sooners star tight end appeared to be done with football a couple of years ago when concussions forced him to miss most of the 2019 season and he took 2020 off.

Then, in 2021, he resurfaced at SMU and showed why he was once a four-star prospect coming out of the high school ranks.

He caught 38 passes and four touchdowns at SMU and with his strong hands, body control, and natural pass-catching abilities, I could see him being worth the Broncos doubling up at tight end in this class.

232. Kyron Johnson, LB, Kansas

Although he’s on the smaller side, Kyron Johnson packs a huge punch and with his 4.38 speed, he’s the ideal type of special teams linebacker to bring in at this juncture of the NFL Draft.

He had eight forced fumbles in his time with the Jayhawks.

234. James Houston, EDGE, Jackson State

A transfer from Florida who played this past year for Deion Sanders and Jackson State, James Houston is a fascinating dart throw off the edge in round seven.

He’s got burst off the line with a blazing 1.56 10-yard split, a 39-inch vertical jump, and production.

He had 70 tackles this past season with 24.5 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, and seven forced fumbles as he dominated the competition Jackson State faced off against.
