The Denver Broncos got another weapon for quarterback Russell Wilson, adding UCLA tight end Greg Dulcich to their tight end room.

The Denver Broncos have added yet another weapon for quarterback Russell Wilson with the 80th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

After trading down with the Houston Texans, the Broncos selected UCLA tight end Greg Dulcich who will immediately compete for significant playing time along with Albert Okwuegbunam.

Here are the trade details with Houston.

George Paton has said on a couple of occasions that he would like to have 10 selections in this year’s draft, and now he has exactly that.

The Broncos moved down just five spots and still got the tight end they had presumably been targeting as they watched Trey McBride fall down the board in the second round and didn’t feel it was worth moving up to get him.

Greg Dulcich is the top tight end in this year’s class according to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah and he’s another high RAS player for George Paton and the Broncos.

No, Dulcich doesn’t run a 4.5 40-yard dash like Albert Okwuegbunam, but his explosiveness and short-area quickness are still in the elite categories, as well as his speed.

In four seasons at UCLA, Dulcich caught 77 passes for 1,353 yards — a whopping 17.3 yards per reception — along with 11 touchdowns.

At 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, Dulcich doesn’t have the ideal size you look for at the tight end position but he’s big enough to play in-line or split into the slot and win there against linebackers and safeties.

Dulcich might end up having the top quote among all Denver Broncos draft picks as well:

He’s calling his shot.

How quickly can Dulcich get on the field? I don’t think he’s going to have to wait long at all. After the Broncos traded Noah Fant to the Seattle Seahawks in the Russell Wilson deal, it became apparent that the team was going to prioritize tight end at some point in this draft.

Especially after the Broncos largely passed on tight ends in free agency, getting a player like Dulcich here was borderline essential.

He should be an impact player from day one for the Denver Broncos.
