Three Denver Broncos who could be traded before or during draft
As the NFL world prepares for the draft next week, let’s take a look at three Denver Broncos who could be traded before or during the draft process.
The Denver Broncos have a very good roster, and if the NFL Draft never happened, Denver could go into the 2022 NFL season with one of the best teams in the entire NFL. It’s weird to say that, but after so long, it’s true once again.
George Paton, in his short tenure as the Denver Broncos General Manager, has shown he can be very active, both trading players, acquiring players, and moving up and down the draft board.
Paton has used just about every single avenue available to improve the roster, which is what a good GM should do.
The Broncos have nine picks in the upcoming draft, and Paton has said he likes having 10 total picks in each draft, so perhaps Paton makes a move or two to get himself to 10 picks.
I also think there are a few candidates on the roster who could be traded before or during the draft for one reason or another.
Denver seems to have a surplus on the offensive line, for example, and a lot of the players were drafted in the John Elway era, so there’s no connection to George Paton.
I do think it’s likely that Denver may move a player or two before or during the draft for more draft picks, or to perhaps unload a contract.
So, which three players on the roster could be moved before or during the NFL Draft?
Three Denver Broncos that could be traded before or during the draft
1. Lloyd Cushenberry, C
I’ve recently written about Lloyd Cushenberry and the potential of him being traded. He’s only a center, and the Broncos have several players along their offensive line who can play multiple positions along the interior.
Couple that with Cushenberry’s body of work after two seasons, and it would make sense if Denver wanted to try and get a draft pick back for him.
Graham Glasgow, Quinn Meinerz, a draft pick, or even Netane Muti could slide in as the starting center for 2022 and perhaps beyond.
“Cush” and his starting position is very much up in the air. I think Denver would jump on the opportunity to trade him.
My idea was to trade him to the Bengals, reuniting him with Joe Burrow, when they won the CFB National Championship back in 2019.
The Bengals do need another offensive linemen, so perhaps they’d be interested in Lloyd Cushenberry for a 4th or 5th round pick.
George Paton could then use that pick he got for Cushenberry to move up the draft board since the Denver Broncos don’t pick until 64th overall.
