Denver Broncos surprise candidate no. 3: Jerry Jeudy, WR

Fans are probably going to come at me over this one, but you have to hear me out.

Again, there are some intriguing alternatives when you look at the 2022 NFL Draft as well as free agency, but the Denver Broncos shouldn’t just send Jerry Jeudy to the highest bidder.

Similar to the situation with Albert Okwuegbunam, I think you only really consider trading Jeudy if the right offer comes along. He’s not currently keeping up with his peers in the 2020 NFL Draft class, and that’s understandable to a degree based on the fact that Pat Shurmur had him running ladders instead of routes this past year.

Jeudy’s potential is untapped, but his issue with drops is also a concern, and he didn’t have a single touchdown in 2021.

Again, that’s not entirely on Jeudy, but it would be ridiculous to assign all of the blame elsewhere here. Jeudy had chances in 2021, and he missed some of them.

What if the Broncos are asked to include Jeudy in a potential trade for a star QB? Would that be a deal-breaker in 2022 as it apparently was in 2021 when the Lions were asking for Jeudy in exchange for Matthew Stafford?

I don’t see how you can really view Jeudy as a deal-breaker anymore.

What if Paton could add an additional first-round pick by trading Jeudy? Is Jeudy worth that at this point?

If you can get a first-round pick for him, I think you have to take it. Maybe Paton wouldn’t agree with that, but there are some good receivers in this draft as well and there are some good ones in free agency that might be bargains for you.

The recent decisions to extend Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick ultimately mean nothing in terms of Jerry Jeudy being traded, but those guys are undoubtedly a safety net if you can get the right value in return.
