The Denver Broncos brought in a prominent veteran tight end for a visit with just weeks before the 2022 NFL Draft. How much could Kyle Rudolph help?

The Denver Broncos are seeking after some help at the tight end position leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft, bringing in veteran Kyle Rudolph for a workout and visit, per multiple reports.

The Broncos have been in the market for a tight end that can help as both a blocker and a receiver, and Rudolph could certainly help in both regards when he is fully healthy.

A former second-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings, Rudolph would reunite in Denver with general manager George Paton, who undoubtedly had a hand in drafting the former Notre Dame star tight end.

Kyle Rudolph would be a tremendous asset for the Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos’ visit with Kyle Rudolph was, at least at the time of this post being written, not followed with an immediate signing, although that doesn’t necessarily mean anything as the Broncos had Billy Turner in for a visit and physical without anyone knowing about it for days.

Rudolph’s fit in Denver would be logical considering Denver’s need for a tight end to pair with Albert Okwuegbunam. The Broncos could take a tight end at some point in the 2022 NFL Draft, but pairing another young player from this Draft class with young Albert Okwuegbunam could ultimately lead the Broncos to a veteran out of necessity anyway.

Rudolph, a grizzled veteran, may potentially be in town for an extended visit that could simply be lasting into Saturday where he will tour the team facility and perhaps sign a contract.

At this point, it hasn’t been reported that a deal is imminent, by any means, but it would make a ton of sense.

Why else would the Broncos be bringing him in for a workout?

One of the top attributes Rudolph brings to the table? His leadership and locker room presence.

Rudolph has been a Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee for the Vikings and is a huge asset in the community for whatever NFL team he’s playing for.

Despite the belief by many that Albert Okwuegbunam could break out in the 2022 season — and he very well could — a veteran presence is needed at the position.

Kyle Rudolph would be a great option at this stage of free agency on a short-term deal.
