Denver beats Kansas City, twice
The Broncos have not beaten the Kansas City Chiefs since their Super Bowl season in 2015. They’ve lost 13 straight games to this team, and it’s largely been due to the Broncos’ inability to field a competitive offense since 2014.
Now that Wilson is in the building, the Broncos finally have the perfect formula to take down Kansas City like they used to.
Denver has fielded strong defenses for years, and it’s something we’re accustomed to seeing.
George Paton kept this alive by signing key players like Randy Gregory, D.J. Jones, and K’Waun Williams. In all three units of the D, Denver is strong.
We also could look at prior instances of the Broncos nearly beating Kansas City. In 2021, they lost to the Chiefs by four at home, and if it wasn’t for an untimely fumble by Melvin Gordon, Denver could have won the game.
In 2020, they only lost to Kansas City by six points during a primetime matchup. There were also a few games where an errant throw or a made field goal would have given Denver the victory.
The point here is, for those who watch the Broncos, it’s easy to see how close they’ve come to beating them, and easy to see why they can now beat them.
Russell Wilson is an extremely efficient passer who limits interceptions, can make plays with his legs, and can make every throw on the field.
There is no wondering if Denver has a “good enough” quarterback anymore. They have an elite, future Hall of Fame signal caller, so beating Kansas City should now be common.
I truly believe Denver can beat them twice this season. The Chiefs have had a mostly uninspiring offseason, as their roster actually got a bit worse.
Don’t be surprised if Denver can pull these games out from now on.
