Denver Broncos insider Benjamin Allbright gave us a potential sneak peak into what the Denver Broncos quarterback room could look like in 2022.

On March 4th, Broncos insider and host of Broncos Country Tonight Benjamin Allbright was asked what he thinks the Denver Broncos quarterback room could look like in 2022.

In a tweet, he “guessed” that the room could look like either Marcus Mariota or Mitchell Trubisky, plus Drew Lock and Kaleb Eleby, who is a 2022 NFL Draft day 3 prospect.

If the Denver Broncos miss out on Aaron Rodgers, or any other veteran quarterback they are comfortable with, they could look to bring in a mid-tier veteran and turn to later in the NFL draft.

Well, both Mitchell Trubisky and Marcus Mariota are solid players.

They both have genuine success starting for a length of time, and both are going to get looks to be starters in free agency.

Both players have solid tools. Trubisky is accurate and has solid mobility, and Mariota is similar, however, he has a lot of potential with his legs and is more of a dual threat quarterback.

I think most of Broncos Country would shy away from this in disgust, but I don’t think this room is as bad as some in Broncos Country might think.

Trubisky was trapped in a horrid coaching situation in Chicago with Matt Nagy, but he still managed to go 25-13 in 38 starts with Nagy. His passer rating with him was about 90 as well.

Mariota never seemed to be able to take Tennessee over the edge, and he’s been backing up Derek Carr the past 2 seasons, but has multiple seasons of starting and playoff experience.

Eleby is a redshirt junior from Western Michigan who has a ton of upside, but is more in the “raw” category.  More on him in a fuller report can be viewed here.

The other player in this scenario is Drew Lock. I’m not sure if people have heard of him before, but he’s set to enter his 4th year with the Denver Broncos and unless the team acquires someone in the Rodgers-Wilson-Garoppolo tier, Lock figures to have a chance to win the job.

I think this potential quarterback room tweeted by Allbright covers all of the bases for Denver.

You have the veteran acquisition who might have untapped potential, the fringe starter in Lock, and a developmental draft pick.

The Denver Broncos simply need to field some type of solution in 2022 for this position.  If they do miss out on a significant upgrade, some sort of room with a veteran or two and a draft pick seems to be the safest bet.

Perhaps in this situation, Denver would consider drafting someone higher, but Ben Allbright has solid sourcing with the Denver Broncos, so he knows something.
