4 Broncos facing make or break seasons
Bradley Chubb, Outside Linebacker
Bradley Chubb simply has to get it done this season. He can’t have another year like the one he just did, where he was close to a non-factor.
Von Miller is gone (unless he comes back) and as of this moment, the Broncos don’t have another top-tier pass-rusher on the roster, though that could change in free agency and/or the draft.
So the Broncos are going to need to count on Chubb to get to the quarterback and play at a Pro-Bowl level. That is what is expected out of a player when you take him with the No. 5 overall selection in a draft like Denver did with Chubb in 2018.
Here’s a list of just some of the players the Broncos passed on in favor of Chubb:
Quenton Nelson
Josh Allen
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Vita Vea
Derwin James
All of those players have had a bigger impact in the league than Chubb who needs to step up and get on that level this season. If not, the Broncos need to start looking elsewhere for a long-term solution in terms of a player who can routinely get after the quarterback.
The Broncos sadly never saw their vision of Chubb and Miller playing together come to fruition, but it’s beyond time for Chubb to step up and salvage things and show himself to be the top five pick that he was drafted as.
