Denver Broncos slot corner FA option #3: Desmond King, Texans
At this point, it feels like we discuss the possibility of Desmond King annually.
Since he was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers, King has been a player I wish the Denver Broncos had just drafted when he came out of Iowa back in 2017.
He’s now played on three different teams, most recently with the Houston Texans, and although he wasn’t the All-Pro in the return game we saw with the Chargers, it’s possible that King is coming off of the best year of his career so far.
Playing on a one-year deal in Houston last season, King racked up 93 total tackles, six passes broken up, three interceptions, and a forced fumble.
He has a proven ability to play the slot, create turnovers, and contribute in the return game.
Again, it’s shocking to me that the Denver Broncos have seemingly never inquired about his services, but entering his age 28 season, there’s no doubt that King should be near the top of the Broncos’ free agency wish list when it comes to slot corners.
Of course, there are some older players like Chris Harris Jr. and the possibility of re-signing Bryce Callahan as well, but availability matters, and those two players have missed some significant time in recent years.
3 Denver Broncos free agent QB targets that may be worth the risk
The Denver Broncos are going to be all-in on the quarterback market in the 2022 offseason. Are there any free agents out there worth the risk?
A player like Desmond King could really fit in the Denver Broncos’ context and give them a boost in the playmaking department out of the slot.
