Super Bowl XLVIII

Though Broncos Country would certainly prefer to forget the humiliating defeat the Denver Broncos suffered at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 48 in February 2014, there is one bright spot that stood out.

In a day that began with a snap over Peyton Manning’s head and only went downhill from there, Demaryius Thomas was a bright spot in the game.

Though the offense was able to score just 8 points, Thomas had the team’s one touchdown reception, and alongside that touchdown, finished the day with 13 receptions for 118 yards. At the time, though the record did not stand long, that broke a Super Bowl record for most receptions on the NFL’s biggest stage.

The feat was even more impressive considering that Thomas had suffered a shoulder injury early on in the game, and played through most of the game with a separated shoulder.

Though DT dealt with numerous injuries throughout his career, he played through many more than he missed time for. This game was just further proof of how tough Demaryius Thomas was as a player and as a person.

Even when it seemed hopeless, DT continued to play through the pain.
