After a dominating win against the Cowboys at Dallas, GM George Paton deserves an honorary game ball.

The Denver Broncos dominated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday from start to finish, 30-16. In such a big game, the Broncos pulled through and got the biggest win of their season.

From the very start of the game, the defense played with passion and that was contagious to the rest of the team. After their first fourth-down stop in the game, everyone at home can sense that the energy was different from this Broncos team.

The offense played really well and for the first time looked like a complete unit. From running the ball effectively to passing the ball, everything was going their way. The Broncos have the talent on offense to do this every game and hopefully, they continue that this week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Everyone that was on the field played great for the Denver Broncos but if we go into detail, George Paton should get a lot of credit, alongside the players and coaches, on what transpired in the game.

Not only did Paton add tons of depth at positions that were needed in the offseason, the 2021 draft class had their best game yet as a group and it shows how complete the roster is as a whole.

As a result of the game, Paton deserves a game ball, and here is how his rookies played against the Cowboys.

The 2021 Draft Class against the Dallas Cowboys

1st Round Pick: Patrick Surtain II

Patrick Surtain II had another amazing game against the Cowboys when the Broncos needed it the most. He has been playing exceptionally well this season and has already made an early claim for being the best corner in Denver.

Surtain did come down with an injury but the Broncos Country can breathe a sigh of relief with the latest news on him. He was tasked to cover CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, and at times, Cedrick Wilson. Surtain did an amazing job and his stats for the game were:

  • 3 Total Tackles
  • 2 Solo Tackles
  • 1 PBU

2nd Round Pick: Javonte Williams

With his best performance yet, Javonte Williams shined the brightest among the rookie class in this game. Williams had always shown flashes of his greatness in previous games but against the Cowboys, he put it on full display.

Williams had a monster run for 30-yards as he ran through the entire Cowboys defense. That highlight alone summarizes what happened in that game. Williams game stats totaled:

  • 17 Carries
  • 111 Rushing Yards (AVG 6.5)
  • Longest Play: 30 Yard-Run

3rd Round Pick: Quinn Meinerz

Quinn Meinerz had to step in for the injured Graham Glasgow, who went down on the last play of the first half. Meinerz did not disappoint when he played in the second half. He was one of the linemen that helped Williams with his 30-yard monster run.

Meinerz has become a fan favorite in Denver and with this performance, he might have gotten himself another starting spot for this week and the future.

3rd Round Pick: Baron Browning

Many of the media members here at Predominantly Orange, including myself, thought that Paton had gotten a steal in the draft with Baron Browning. With his second straight start, it seems like he has gotten comfortable in Vic Fangio’s defense.

He was dealing with injuries at the beginning of the season, but in his third game this year, Browning looks to be the future at linebacker for the Denver Broncos. Browning showed off his speed and had great pass coverage skills throughout the game. He totaled:

  • 6 Total Tackles
  • 4 Solo Tackles
  • 1 QB Hit

5th Round Pick: Caden Sterns

Caden Sterns has already been playing at an elite level for Fangio and it showed again that he is not only one of the best rookie players in their class, but on the defense in general.

While only playing 27% of the defensive snaps, he played exceptionally well once again and picked off Dak Prescott in the fourth quarter for his second interception this season. Sterns stats were:

  • 3 Total Tackles
  • 3 Solo Tackles
  • 1 PBU
  • 1 INT

7th Round Pick: Jonathon Cooper

As of right now, the ultimate steal of the draft for Paton and this 2021 draft class is Jonathon Cooper. To draft this individual in the seventh round with his talent is absurd and it showed Sunday.

With Von Miller getting traded away, many thought who was going to be the next guy up alongside Bradley Chubb. It’s safe to say, Paton found him.

Cooper had shown superstar-like flashes whenever he was on the field. From the Cleveland game and beyond, he has been seeing his playing time increase significantly. Cooper played 90% of the defensive stats and totaled:

  • 4 Total Tackles (3 Solo)
  • 2 TFL
  • 2.0 Sacks
  • 2 QB Hits

The Denver Broncos look to make it three wins in a row Sunday against the Eagles as they travel into the Mile High City.
