The Denver Broncos gutted out a victory over the Washington Football Team, 17-10. They snap their 4-game losing streak in a much-needed win to keep their season alive.

With the recent offensive struggles the past few games, the Broncos received a huge boost from Jerry Jeudy, returning for his first game back since Week 1.

With the incompetence of play-calling from Pat Shurmur, Jeudy did as much as he could do on Sunday with the ball. In total, he had:

  • 4 Targets
  • 4 Receptions
  • 39 Yards (AVG 9.8)

Everyone would agree that these numbers are way too low for the most dynamic and arguably best receiver on the field. In his first game back, you should want him to get the ball early and often to get him comfortable in the game. As the game goes on, he’ll then continue to carry that momentum, but this might be a hard task for Shurmur.

Anyways, Jeudy did impact the game immensely, whether it was off-the-ball or getting the ball. The team was significantly better on third down, converting 54 percent of its plays. One of them being a huge 3rd and 8 conversion in the fourth quarter by no other than Jerry Jeudy.

With the offense still struggling on Sunday against a defense that is dead last against the pass, the Broncos still managed to convert the biggest third down of the game late in the fourth quarter.

It was very nice seeing Jeudy back on the field making big plays. It looks like his ankle was completely fine on this play as he dusted the corner for an 18-yard gain.

Many were skeptical of how Jeudy was going to look coming back from a gruesome ankle injury he suffered in Week 1. Safe to say that he is all the way back.

It was frustrating that Jeudy didn’t get to showcase more of what he can do but he can only control what he can control. When his number was dialed up, he showed up and showed out. It’s on Shurmur to get Jeudy a lot more targets because there is no way that he only has that little amount of targets in the game.

Jeudy only played 38 snaps on offense out of 53 (72 percent of the game). Vic Fangio said that is “about right” and he thought that he played well for this team.

With the Broncos traveling down to Dallas this week, Jerry Jeudy might get a bigger load for his second game back. Look for him to have a breakout game in a much-needed game against the Cowboys.
