The Denver Broncos have started the regular season 3-0 after defeating the New York Jets in the home opener, 26-0.
The defense had its’ best performance yet in a time when they needed it. They completely shut out the Jets offense and Zach Wilson. This was big for this defensive unit to play the way they did. Great defenses do this to bad offenses and they showed that. This is not a fluke defense, they are for real and they look to carry that momentum into Sunday against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
On the other side of the ball, the offense played well under Teddy Bridgewater. Consistency is still the key for this offense playing so well as the running game picked up a bit on Sunday after Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams both scored a touchdown. This two-headed attack that the Broncos have is scary and if they continue to play like how they did against the Jets, this offense will be hard to stop as the season goes on.
With the Denver Broncos pitching a shutout against the Jets, here are the top three plays of the game:
Denver Broncos top 3 plays vs. the Jets
3. Von Miller looking like his old self and getting the sack on Zach Wilson.
On a 3rd and 10 needing a big play to get off the field, Von Miller gets the job done. Looking like he was never injured, Miller comes around the edge and records the sack.
His impact has been huge ever since he returned back on the field. Miller has something to do on every play, even if it’s as little as getting chipped from a tight end. He is always making an impact and with this sack, Miller has sacked 54 different quarterbacks in his career.
Incredible.
2. Justin Simmons gets his first interception of the season and almost returns it for six.
Justin Simmons doing what Justin Simmons does.
At this point of the game, many fans including myself were hoping for a shutout from the defense and Simmons did exactly that. Read the rookie’s eyes the whole way and jumped on it. Simmons nearly returned it for six but got tackled short of the red zone.
To simplify things, the best safety in the league is doing his thing. One of many more to come from Simmons.
1. Teddy Bridgewater connects with Tim Patrick on a beautiful throw and catch at the one-yard line.
Teddy Bridgewater’s best pass of the day comes in the fourth quarter to extend the drive as he hits Tim Patrick on a back-shoulder fade. Patrick adjusted and made an awesome catch for a gain of 33 yards.
Patrick stepped up against the Jets like how he has been doing this whole season so far. The connection between him and Bridgewater is something that is flying under the radar but they’ll need to be on the same page more than ever against the Ravens now on Sunday at Mile High.
Courtland Sutton looks better than ever, has career day vs. Jaguars
The Broncos defeated the Jaguars, 23-13 in a dominant second-half performance. Courtland Sutton had a career day and looks back and better after his injury.
The Denver Broncos have a real test against the Baltimore Ravens in their Week 4 matchup Sunday as they look to still be undefeated in the regular season in front of Broncos Country.
