The Denver Broncos won their third-straight game, and their big lead against the Jets allowed the team to sit safety Justin Simmons a little bit.

We all love a good story, and the Denver Broncos winning their third-straight game and ending the month of September undefeated is a great story. The common saying: Whatever It Takes.

Safety Justin Simmons came into the game with a consecutive snap streak of over 3,200 defensive snaps but with the team’s 26-0 lead, the team decided that the streak was not worth the risk of Simmons getting injured. That, or they didn’t even think about the streak, and simply held him out for the injury risk reason.

The Broncos did play some other defensive backups near the end of the game. We saw DeShawn Williams in the final minutes, as well as Simmons’ backup, rookie Caden Sterns.

Following the game, Simmons talked about his snap streak coming to an end.

"”If there was a time to miss it, it’d be that. I’m kind of glad it’s over, you know? Now I don’t have to talk about it anymore and I don’t have to be asked about it. More importantly, I feel like there’s a little bit of individualism in terms of the streak. I’m glad it’s over and we can focus a little bit more on the team.”— Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons via post-game press conference."

Simmons intercepted Jets quarterback Zach Wilson right before being pulled from the game. It was a great way to finish the day for the All-Pro Pro Bowl safety.

The Broncos did have several injuries, which included left guard Dalton Risner and right guard Graham Glasgow, though those injuries came earlier on in the game. While it is never ideal to suffer injuries (like all of the ones they suffered last season), it was great to see several younger players be able to get some action, including guards Netane Muti and Quinn Meinerz, linebacker Baron Browning, as well as Sterns.

Next week, the Denver Broncos host the 2-1 Baltimore Ravens, who defeated the Detroit Lions with a last-second, record-breaking 66-yard field goal. It will be a tough challenge even at home. I’m sure Simmons won’t be missing a snap in week 4 if the Broncos can help it.
