Denver Broncos: 25 or under against the New York Jets
Denver Broncos offense, 25 or under
Much like the game against the New York Giants, the Denver Broncos got off to a sluggish start against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the first two games combined, the Denver Broncos have a sum of just three points. That may be permissible against the likes of these horrendous opponents, but when it comes time to play big boy ball, it may not be enough.
The run game has also been a constant struggle for this team. From the outside looking in, it seems to be more of an offensive line issue, but the running backs could improve, as anyone could. That said, the majority of the onus falls upon the offensive line.
There inst a single offensive lineman that has a higher averaged out grade than a 75 right now, that includes Garrett Bolles. With starting right guard, Graham Glasgow, being out until further notice, second-year player Netane Muti has been forced into the action.
This may be a good thing from a depth perspective, but Glasgow does seem a bit underappreciated. Throughout all of the madness and chaos that the interior of the offensive line has brought, Teddy Bridgewater has found a way to keep the offense on the field.
After two games of football, the Denver Broncos offense is averaging 37 minutes of time of possession right now, with having 38 minutes last week. That is with the Denver Broncos going just 2/11 on third-down conversions against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which seems crazy.
Even with all of the concerns in regards to the rushing attack and overall blocking, the Denver Broncos are still 2-0. Teddy Bridgewater has made good plays, great plays, and perfectly timed plays. Courtland Sutton had his “I’m back” moment last week against the Jaguars.
Tight ends Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam have been quite the dynamic duo and Eric Saubert has been fantastic as a third tight end. While the numbers aren’t eye-popping, they have shown their dominance when called upon. Saubert is the upgrade over Nick Vannett that this team needed and Albert Okwuegbunam is a red-zone force.
Noah Fant is just a force in general, no matter where you are on the field. It is my deepest belief that if the Denver Broncos wanted Noah Fant to reach 100 yards every game, he could do it. In two straight weeks, the Denver Broncos have had nine different receivers to catch a pass. That is quite a feat if you ask me.
This just makes it difficult to game plan against. One week it is the Courtland Sutton show, the next week it is the Noah Fant show and by week three, it may be the KJ Hamler show. Speaking of KJ Hamler, he has been going Danny Phantom early on, but the team hasn’t needed his dominance yet, and that is perfectly fine.
When it is time for KJ Hamler to rise, I believe he will. If I had to predict when it will be a “KJ Hamler game,” I would say he is going to be a focal point against the Baltimore Ravens, but we are focused on the New York Jets for now. What I would like to see this week is for the Denver Broncos to come out and run tempo, see if this offense can operate at a fast pace.
They have proven that they can be methodical, now let us see if they can keep up with the high-powered offenses if needed. This week is a prime opportunity and the fans would absolutely love to see this happen at the home opener. Outside of pressing early, I would like to see the Denver Broncos get the run game on track.
I think both of these things can happen, but will they?
Javonte Williams will have his breakout game against the Jets in week three, at least that is my prediction. When we are talking about the post-game recap, I think we will be discussing Javonte Williams having his first 100-yard game as a professional. He also gets his first touchdown this week.
Teddy Bridgewater also has his first game where he throws three touchdown passes. He throws one to Courtland Sutton, Albert Okwuegbunam, and I think Tim Patrick catches his third touchdown of the season.
Man, I sure am glad Tim Patrick is still a Denver Bronco.
In my 25 or Under prediction for week three against the New York Jets, I think the Denver Broncos pass on both spectrums. Racing out to a hot start, Teddy Bridgewater leads the Denver Broncos to 31 points and Von Miller and the defense hold them to just 13.
In a game where the Denver Broncos are favored by 10.5 points, I think the Broncos handle the rookie quarterback and head coach with a final score of 31-13.
