Wide receiver Courtland Sutton made a statement in the Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos game that he is back in a big way.

If it looked like Courtland Sutton was back to the fans, and it was confirmed by Von Miller in his post-game presser. “Courtland is back,” is what Miller said and it was evident against the Jacksonville Jaguars he is close to 100 percent.

With loss of Jerry Jeudy, Sutton will play an even larger role for the Denver Broncos going forward. Sutton continues to prove he is an elite talent at wide receiver by his performance. Also, the game against the Jaguars confirmed Sutton should be entertaining extension talks soon.

Sutton has come a long way from learning from Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. In a short amount of time, Sutton saw playing time and never looked back. His big-bodied frame is one that makes any quarterback’s life much easier.

If his career thus far and today against the Jaguars showed anything, then it is that he is more of a complete wideout than people think.

Back in 2019, Sutton put up 1,000 yards with three quarterbacks throwing him passes. That’s an impressive feat. It doesn’t matter who it is by wide receiver standards. Sutton deserved every bit of top 10 wide receiver conversation in that season and still does.

It’s laughable for any person who believes Sutton is just a deep ball threat. Ever since Sutton has come into the league, he’s worked on every bit of his route tree. Like Thomas before him, Sutton became a dominant player after the catch. Both players have embraced a physical stiff-arm nature which creates the extra yardage in space.

It is crazy in a season and a half where Courtland Sutton was the most valuable receiver that the he has not achieved career marks as he did on Sunday against the Jaguars. His receptions and yardage were career highs. Still in his young career Sutton has yet to have 10+ receptions. The nine receptions by Sutton should just be the start for racking up more receptions in individual games.

If you are looking at the biggest surprise for his accomplishment today it’s the yardage. With Sutton being an elite deep-ball receiver, the 159 yards seem like something he’s achieved before.

Sutton is more than qualified for an extension before the season is done. Sunday against the Jaguars also helped his cause. Health also being the number one concern.

There was a lot of controversy over the way Sutton was moving in a drill during the week but he shut up a lot of people who felt he did not look right. For the sake of the argument, if Sutton said himself that he is not 100 percent yet then he looked the part today. This only helps bolster a case for an extension.

With the loss of Jerry Jeudy for a little bit, Courtland Sutton still should see a large share of the targets and receptions going forward. Jeudy had received the best rapport with Bridgewater before Sutton’s performance on Sunday. This will only help an already potent offense once Jeudy is healthy. Teddy Bridgewater having a relationship with everyone on that offense means every player gets a piece.

Once Jeudy comes back the offense will receive a lot of attention potentially on Sutton and thus creating opportunities for others. Furthermore, it feeds into the distribution of the offense and its weapons.
