The Denver Broncos got out to a 1-0 start with a big win over the New York Giants, but the news wasn’t all good.

Second-year wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was carted off the field during the third quarter of the team’s 27-13 win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, and reports indicate that he could miss anywhere from four to six.

If that is the case, the Denver Broncos need to find another place for Teddy Bridgewater to go with the football for about half the season.

Jeudy was having a nice day for the Denver Broncos before the injury, catching six passes for 72 yards. It’s a tough blow for the team, which lost Courtland Sutton for the season in Week 2 of last season. The team was looking forward to having the two receivers on the field together but it looks like, for at least the next month or more, that won’t happen.

When replays were shown of the injury, which came on a 20-yard reception on third down, it appeared much worse than reports have revealed. It looked like Jeudy had broken his ankle on the play but instead, it’s been diagnosed as a high ankle sprain.

Denver Broncos: Who will step up in Jerry Jeudy’s absence?

That is a serious injury for a football player, however, and it could keep Jeudy at less than 100 percent for the remainder of the season. A high ankle sprain is the same injury that kept New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas down for much of the 2020 season.

The Broncos will need more production out of Sutton, Tim Patrick and K.J. Hamler with the news of Jeudy’s injury, but the team also has four wide receivers on the practice squad, including Tyrie Cleveland, Seth Williams, De’Mornay Pierson-El, and Kendall Hinton.

Expect to see the team call one of them up to the main roster ahead of the team’s Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
