The Denver Broncos have assigned new jersey numbers for players that just joined the team via free agency, trades, or the 2021 NFL Draft. That list included rookies, players changing numbers, and returning players like Jerry Jeudy, who ended up retaining his number 10.

While this certainly does not change any product on the field, it could bring an uproar of excitement for fans and players. With the lighter restrictions, the No Fun League” decided to adapt to its current, young fan base.

Again, whether KJ Hamler is wearing number one or 13, he will still be KJ Hamler. That being said, I would like to have some fun with this.

Pondering how I could make this entertaining, the idea of comparing former Denver Broncos to current players with the same number could create a fun environment.

First off, here are the numbers for the incoming 2021 rookie class for the Denver Broncos:

  • CB Pat Surtain II – No. 2
  • RB Javonte Williams – No. 33
  • OL Quinn Meinerz – No. 77
  • LB Baron Browning – No. 56
  • S Caden Sterns – No. 30
  • S Jamar Johnson – No. 41
  • WR Seth Williams – No. 19
  • CB Kary Vincent Jr. – No. 35
  • OLB Jonathon Cooper – No. 53
  • DL Marquiss Spencer – No. 51

Additionally, there are the veteran Denver Broncos that will be playing under a new number:

  • WR KJ Hamler No. 1
  • WR Kendall Hinton – No. 9
  • CB Michael Ojemudia – No. 13
  • CB Nate Hairston – No. 27

Finally, the incoming veteran Denver Broncos who played for a different franchise in 2020:

  • QB Teddy Bridgewater – No. 5
  • CB Ronald Darby – No. 21
  • CB Kyle Fuller – No. 23
  • RB Mike Boone – No. 26
  • LB Natrez Patrick – No. 57
  • TE Eric Saubert – No. 82
  • DT Isaiah Mack – No. 97
  • DL Shamar Stephen – No. 99

Beginning with the incoming rookie class, the first-round pick has to be a part of this list. Baron Browning is also a player with incredible potential, who is also wearing a previously well-represented number.

Rookies like Caden Sterns (30), Quinn Meinerz (77), and Jonathon Cooper (53) respectively have worked themselves off of this potential list. This is not a dig at any of these individuals. Simply put, being in the same sentence as Terrell Davis, Randy Gradishar, and Karl Mecklenburg isn’t fair.

Javonte Williams, the 35th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, will be wearing number 33. This number brings some intrigue as it was worn by some interesting running backs that played for the Denver Broncos.

Many fans may not remember, but Ron Dayne and Tony Dorsett both rocked 33 for the Broncos.
