Top takeaways from ‘Behind The Broncos’ | No Shortcuts: Episode 1
By Jordan Lopez
Paton admires Courtland Sutton and his abilities
George Paton was in Minnesota when Denver traveled to U.S Bank Stadium in 2019.
“We played against Courtland two years ago and he was our number one priority.” Sutton had a very impressive game as well with five receptions for 113 yards. He even threw the ball for 38 yards too.
Paton goes on to say special things about him in the episode.
"He’s hard to handle for a number of reasons. He is big, he’s athletic, he can run and highly competitive and a really smart football player. George Paton on Courtland Sutton"
One of the best moments in the episode is when Paton is buying his children merchandise from the team store. He is on Facetime with one of his kids asking which jersey they want. He proceeds to pick out a Sutton jersey and asks if this is better than the Justin Jefferson one they have. The answer back was “equal.”
Paton highlights Bradley Chubb
One of the other young promising players George Paton mentions is Bradley Chubb and the importance of a good pass rusher.
He goes on to explain an up and under move Chubb used versus the Titans against one of the best left tackles in the game, Taylor Lewan. Chubb hits the quarterback and Paton exclaims that this is what you’re looking for.
"You see how strong he is with his hands. Good strength, leverage, separation. The thing that sticks out with Bradley is just the passion he plays with and it is contagious, you know how hard he plays. George Paton on Bradley Chubb"
Paton concludes with Chubb on how serious he is about winning and how he has all the leadership qualities.
Towards the end of the episode, Paton describes his relationship with the scouting department and coach Vic Fangio. We also get some audio of Paton in the “war room” talking to the team about what they think about some players they mentioned.
Having spent multiple days with the guys that are helping him, it seems like they have a good line of communication between themselves.
From the outside looking in, Paton looks like the right guy for the job.
This will get tested though as we approach Free Agency and the NFL Draft that is coming very soon.
The very first episode was very good and I hope the second one will be even better!
