Week 16 Power Rankings roundup vs Chargers

NFL.com (This week: 25th; Last week: 20th): The five-spot drop is not entirely surprising. Dan Hanzus said he had hoped that Drew Lock would continue on a positive streak of good games but that just didn’t happen, as Lock lost a fumble and almost threw two interceptions.

Sadly, Hanzus is right. It would have been great to see Lock do well against the Bills. But, as Hanzus acknowledges, it was the team’s defense that really laid an egg. Well, can you really call it laying an egg against a top offense that the Bills have?

ESPN (This week: 24th; Last week: 22nd): ESPN considers Shelby Harris as this week’s most underrated star. Harris has had a tremendous impact on the team this year, but also last year. He’s had to do a lot due to injuries to other players. While Harris is going to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, the Broncos should do what they can to retain him. There will be competition for him.

CBS Sports (Game Pick): Pete Prisco predicts that the Chargers will come away with the win against Denver this weekend by a score of 35-28. While the Broncos were able to squeak by with a close victory last time, it might not turn out the same way this week as Justin Herbert appears to be getting better and better.

NBC Sports (This week: 29th; Last week: 24th): This is possibly a season-low for the Broncos in terms of power rankings, if memory serves me correctly. Mike Florio says that things won’t change until the ownership situation gets resolved. Here’s the thing: Even when the ownership situation gets resolved (it’s still likely a few years away from that), the Broncos could still be struggling. That change won’t be an instant fix.
