DIontae Spencer, RS

What an exciting week it was for specialist Diontae Spencer! Not only did Diontae Spencer return a punt for an 83-yard touchdown early on in the game, but it was his first career NFL touchdown.

Not a bad way to get on the official NFL scoreboard, if I do say so myself.

Spencer’s touchdown was the first score on the special teams unit for the Denver Broncos since Omar Bolden in 2015. So far in his NFL career, Spencer has demonstrated lightning speed, and finally, it came to fruition on Sunday.

It was a much-needed breath of fresh air after Denver’s special teams unit has struggled the majority of the season.

Spencer was also recognized as AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts on Sunday. Hopefully, we see a lot more of this from Spencer going forward!

Drew Lock, QB

Even if just for a week, Drew Lock has silenced the doubt. With an ever-growing target on his back, the pressure was on for Lock to show the NFL world that he has what it takes to lead this team going forward.

After he played pretty well in the heart-breaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, everyone seemed to hold their breath as they waited to see if Lock could repeat that performance against the Panthers.

He did not disappoint. Lock finished the day 21-of-27 with 280 pass yards, 4 TDs, and a QBR of 149.5. This was by far the best performance of Drew Lock’s young career and seemed to change a lot of minds who were convinced that Drew Lock is not the guy for the Denver Broncos.

Of course, we still need to see more. Lock needs to continue this upward trend, and still has a lot of work to do if he is going to be this team’s franchise QB going forward. However, he has now shown he has the potential to be the Buzz Lightyear this team has looked for since 2015.
