3. John Elway

It’s difficult to list Elway on here because he is definitely the best thing to ever happen to the organization. He has even had some bright spots since becoming the team’s president, but more recently, he has left much to be desired with his decision making.

You could definitely lump his buddy Matt Russell, the team’s Vice President of Player Personnel, into this discussion.

Between some of his draft choices, his free-agent signings and his selections for the team’s head coaches, Elway has left may scratching their heads. Almost daily, you’ll find a Broncos fan who, although they love the man, wouldn’t mind seeing Elway go.

In Elway’s defense, he hasn’t drafted as bad as some will have you believe.

So what is it that is wrong with Elway? Does he have too much on his plate? Does he place trust in areas he shouldn’t? Does he just not have a great eye for talent?

It could be many different things, but many of the team’s current issues fall right at his desk.

For Elway to turn things around (assuming he doesn’t step down), it seems he needs more (or at least, better) help. He was able to bring Manning aboard but he can only ride the success of that move for so long because, let’s be honest, all those other guys that signed with the team at that time came because of Manning.

More recent signings such as Ja’Wuan James have been as bad as it gets.

If I’m a die-hard Broncos fan, it’s difficult to call for the dismissal of Elway, but I  definitely want to see some major improvements in regards to deciding who should play for the team and who should be part of the coaching staff.
