The Denver Broncos’ tight end room is so loaded, the team is probably going to justify a way to keep five of them.

Unfortunately, there are six NFL guys on the roster right now, including 2018 fifth-round pick Troy Fumagalli.

The Broncos have a number of tight ends who excel as receivers but are questionable in the blocking game, and with the way Jake Butt has practiced so far in 2020 (and stayed on the field for every single session) it’s likely going to be tough for the team to justify keeping Fumagalli over him.

Fumagalli is a talented receiver and is going to play in the NFL for a long time if he can stay healthy, but that has been a question for him a couple of years into it after a sports hernia injury caused him to miss the 2018 season.

He has also missed recent practice time with a minor procedure keeping him out, and those missed practices could prove to be very costly.

Fumagalli is obviously practice squad eligible, but there are teams out there that would snatch him off waivers, so the Broncos would be wise to shop him in a trade before subjecting him to the wire.
