Denver Broncos: 3 trade ideas with the tanking Jaguars
Trade 2: Send a wide receiver for S Andrew Wingard
It was borderline shocking to me when the Denver Broncos were not the team that wound up with Wyoming safety Andrew Wingard during or after the 2019 NFL Draft.
Wingard is a Ralston Valley, CO native and even though not every local product makes their way to the Denver Broncos, the lack of depth at the position made the Broncos a logical landing spot.
Wingard instead chose the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he had a strong rookie season with 30 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in 16 games.
Even though Wingard’s usage defensively was sparse, he played 73 percent of the special teams plays for the Jaguars and established himself there early on.
The Broncos obviously still need safety/defensive backfield depth, and if the Jaguars feel like they would take some wide receiver depth for him or maybe a day three pick, he could be worth the price as a guy with at least three years of team control on his contract.
