Broncos news: Rookie WR KJ Hamler could miss regular season time.

Training camp injuries are the absolute worst kind of Broncos news this time of year, in case no one has mentioned that lately.

The Denver Broncos are not immune to the injury bug during training camp and, unfortunately, some key players are getting bitten just one week into training camp practices.

Rookie wide receiver KJ Hamler missed Thursday’s practice with a hamstring injury, which Predominantly Orange’s own Ty Walden wrote about here.

Vic Fangio initially said Hamler would miss ‘a couple weeks’ with the injury but that’s what he and the Broncos said last year when Drew Lock injured his thumb and when Bryce Callahan re-injured his foot.

Hamstring injuries are horrible for players like Hamler, who relies on speed and quick cuts to really make their biggest impact on the game. This is especially concerning because Hamler was not able to work out at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine due to a hamstring injury.

Now, it’s being reported that Hamler could miss a month, which would cut into some significant regular season time.

One month exactly from today would put us at September 21, meaning Hamler would presumably miss both the Tennessee Titans season opener and the week two matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road.

Hamstring injuries are not to be trifled with, especially with receivers and skill players.

If Klis’ timeline is correct, it’s a shame that we may not see Hamler in uniform for those first two matchups of the 2020 season, including the Broncos’ trip to Pennsylvania where Hamler obviously played his college ball at Penn State.

If Hamler misses just one month with this hamstring injury, his first game could be when the Broncos play host to the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers in late September. If Vic Fangio’s initial projection of a ‘couple weeks’ is more accurate, we might yet see Hamler in uniform when the Broncos take on the Titans.

Next. Broncos players we wish were making a bigger camp splash. dark

The Broncos have plenty of receiver depth that they don’t need to push the envelope here, and with Hamler such an important piece of the future of the team, they shouldn’t anyway.
