Red Zone Touchdowns

In 2019, the Broncos ranked 28th in touchdowns scored in the red zone. That is just not going to get it done. They came close to winning some more games than they did but there were just certain things that went wrong, including bad play-calling.

The New York Giants, and Pat Shurmur, ranked 17th in red zone touchdowns. While that still isn’t where a team would like to be, it’s a big jump from 47.62 percent to 57.14 percent.

Courtland Sutton led the way for the Broncos in red zone receiving action in 2019 by catching 9-of-19 targets inside the 20-yard line for 69 yards and three touchdowns. Inside the 10-yard line, Sutton caught 5-of-9 passes for 37 yards and three touchdowns.

Going forward, the Broncos need to be a lot better at cooking up successful plays in the red zone and incorporate their weapons a lot better. That should be easier with Jerry Jeudy, K.J. Hamler, and Melvin Gordon now in the mix.
