Brandon Allen

Toward the end of the preseason last year, it looked like the Broncos would keep Kevin Hogan around as a backup quarterback but when the Los Angeles Rams released Brandon Allen, the team opted to claim him instead.

When Joe Flacco was shelved for the season, the Broncos turned to Allen instead of Drew Lock. The offense did look better than it had with Flacco and Allen even guided the team to a win over the Cleveland Browns.

Immediately, there were some Broncos fans who thought maybe the team should give Allen a long look as a potential quarterback of the future. That was laughable, as those same fans clearly doubted Drew Lock, who hadn’t even seen the field yet.

Allen was average at best and the kind of backup quarterback you don’t really want to have to send in and when you do, you just hope for the best.

Allen did get on the field and get some playing experience with the Broncos last season, something he wasn’t able to do with the Rams or the team that drafted him, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He is a career backup and unless a team has a quarterback go down this summer, his chances of being in the league again look pretty slim.

Will any of these guys play again?

Which one of these players, if any, has the best chance to be signed this offseason?
