In a pass-heavy league, the Denver Broncos could feature two wide receivers that reach 1,000 receiving yards for the 2020 NFL season.

When the Denver Broncos drafted Jerry Jeudy, they got the number one guy they wanted. A touchdown machine, Jeudy averaged 17.2 yards per reception during his time at Alabama.

He recorded 2,742 receiving yards in three years, including a year in which he had just 264 receiving yards while playing in eight games.

Courtland Sutton, the team’s number one receiver, passed 1,100 receiving yards in 2019, with three different quarterbacks. That is absolutely unheard of. With Drew Lock becoming the guy, and no quarterback competition heading to the Broncos anytime soon, Sutton could and should have another great showing in 2020.

The arrival of Pat Shurmur is another factor to take into account. Shurmur was with the New York Giants in 2019. The Giants ran the football 37.4 percent of the time, compared to the Broncos’ 44.8 percent. That means that New York passed 62.6 percent of the time, and the Broncos 55.2 percent of the time.

The Broncos’ offensive scheme now will consist of many players getting involved. They have a talented running back group with Phillip Lindsay and brought in a guy in Melvin Gordon who has been targeted 298 times in the passing game for his career.

But Sutton will still remain Lock’s guy. I can see him easily reaching 1,000 yards again. It may be a bold prediction but maybe he will surpass his 2019 total of 1,112.

Their top two wideouts may not get a crazy amount of targets like in the past, but in the case of  Jeudy, his yards after catch rate will be a great asset for the Broncos. Jeudy has the ability to break tackles and run for a score, something that he did many times in his time at Alabama.

The fact that the Broncos have so many weapons is going to be very bad news for opposing defenses. With the different route combinations at their disposal and the different types of wideouts they have, they can confuse defenses.

I think that the Broncos are going to take advantage of their top weapons, not allowing the fact that they have other pass catchers to make happy get in the way. The name of the game is to find ways to win, after all.
