Denver Broncos: Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr. obvious choices for 2010 All-Decade Team
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its All-Decade team for the 2010s. Von Miller and Chris Harris Jr. made the cut.
When you think of some of the top defenders in recent history for the Denver Broncos, whose names come to mind? Right off the bat is outside linebacker Von Miller and cornerback Chris Harris Jr.
Well, the Pro Football Hall of Fame feels the same way. Miller and Harris Jr. have been named to the All-Decade team of the 2010s.
The Denver Broncos made Miller the second-overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Nine years later, he became the team’s all-time leader in sacks (106), passing Simon Fletcher. Miller has recorded ten-plus sacks in in seven of his nine seasons in the league.
His presence on the field is always known. There have been very few times in which he has not made an impact during a game he played in. One of the most exciting things we have gotten to see Miller do is perform in Super Bowl 50.
He recorded six tackles and 2.5 sacks, as well as defending one pass and forcing two fumbles on his way to becoming the Super Bowl 50 MVP.
Perhaps the biggest thing he did on the field during the entire decade was record the most sacks of any player.
However, when asked by Steve Atwater what he felt was his best achievement, it had nothing to do with his performance on the field. Instead, it was his Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination.
Chris Harris Jr. was a star cornerback for the Denver Broncos from 2011 to 2019. He played 139 games for the team, recording 20 interceptions for 457 yards and returning four of them for touchdowns. He also recorded four forced fumbles and 518 tackles.
On blitzes, he hit the quarterback 10 times.
Harris Jr. was tasked with covering some of the toughest wide receivers in the league. Despite his 5’10” frame (wide receivers are typically 6’1” or taller), Harris Jr. was a tough player and gave so much effort to the franchise during his nine seasons in the MIle High City.
We congratulate both Miller and Harris Jr. for this tremendous accomplishment and look forward to watching the rest of their careers.
