Andy Janovich, Fullback

JANO!!! Man, am I going to miss this guy.  Continuing our trend of value picks, Andy Janovich arrived in Denver as a 6th round pick out of Nebraska. The corn fed, built Ford tough fullback was everything that you wanted in a player: Physical, tough, durable, dependable, team oriented – the list could go on. In case you disagree with my assessment of Andy Janovich, ask this guy for a 2nd opinion…

At the time, many thought that the pick was because of Kubiak’s insistence on having a fullback in his offense. While that was partially true, another factor in Janovich’s selection was his fantastic coverage ability on Special Teams.

Jano was a linebacker playing fullback. When he was in the backfield, you knew his presence was going to be felt. He was signed a to a three-year extension in the middle of last season, keeping his talents in Denver for the foreseeable future.  Unfortunately, that was short lived.

During the opening week of free agency, Janovich was traded to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2021. The biggest reason for this move may be due to new offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur’s limited use of the FB position in his offenses.

Whatever the reason may be, Janovich was a great Bronco and I wish him all the best in Cleveland (unless it’s against us).
