Despite signing Graham Glasgow in free agency, the Denver Broncos still need to add some more depth to the offensive line.

The offensive line remains a question mark for the Denver Broncos despite adding former Detroit Lion Graham Glasgow.

Denver lost center Connor McGovern to the New York Jets in free agency, and we are not sure exactly what will happen at that spot or at right guard. The expectation is that Glasgow will be placed at right guard, with the availability of playing the center position.

As of right now, the projected offensive line looks like:

LT: Garett Bolles (27)
LG: Dalton Risner (24)
C: Patrick Morris (25)
RG: Graham Glasgow (27)
RT: Ja’Wuan James (27)
Backups: Nico Falah (G/C), Austin Schlottmann (G/C), Elijah Wilkinson (G/T), Tyler Jones, Calvin Anderson (T), Ka’John Armstrong (T), Jake Rodgers (T).

Morris has appeared in just two games in his career, both games with the Broncos in 2019. He spent 2018 with the Pittsburgh Steelers with current Broncos offensive line coach Mike Munchak coaching him up.

The offensive line crop is very strong in the year’s NFL draft. There are about five offensive linemen that have consistently been projected to go in the first round: Tristan Wirfs, Mekhi Becton, Jedrick Wills, Josh Jones and Andrew Thomas.

I do not believe the Broncos are going to go this direction in the first round. There are definitely some other options they can go with in later rounds.

A question that has been floated around is what is the team’s plan at both tackle positions? Garett Bolles improved in the late part of last season under Munchak, while there are question marks about whether or not Ja’Wuan James can stay healthy at right tackle.

The answers to those two questions are ultimately deciding factors in when the team will attack offensive line in the draft. It doesn’t make a ton of sense to be all-in on someone like Bolles and then draft a left tackle early.

Also, after making James the highest-paid right tackle in the league, the same goes for him and that position. While drafting depth players is crucial, I don’t believe it’s something they have to address immediately in the draft.

There are players that will be available in the mid-rounds that could interest the Broncos, such as Netane Muti, Tyler Biadasz, Shane Lemieux, and Logan Hunt, just to name a few.

Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur likes to utilize a zone-schemed run game, so players that specialize in that department are going to be of higher interest to the Broncos in the draft.

Free agency is a long process and the Broncos very well might still add some available players, but with many free agent prospects already finding homes, it seems as if the team’s best bet is to find gems in the draft.
