With free agency scheduled to start on time, the Denver Broncos are reportedly interested in a rival running back.

You can never have too many weapons, am I right? The Broncos could be a destination for one of the best weapons in the league.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is scheduled to become a free agent this week, with the NFL and NFLPA coming to a 10-year CBA agreement. The Broncos are reportedly interested in him.

As Mike Klis said, Gordon’s price tag is expected to be quite large, but if the Broncos truly want Gordon, they need to bite the bullet and sign him.

He will turn just 27 years old in April. He has plenty of good—or maybe even great—years ahead of him.

Gordon did have a down year in 2019, finishing with just 612 rushing yards, but he rushed for eight touchdowns and caught a touchdown through the air. He had 42 receptions for 296 yards as well.

Gordon has had some injury troubles throughout his career, which began in 2015 with the Chargers. He has only finished a 16-game season one time in his career.

The Broncos could still use his services, though. For his career, he has been a nice addition to the Chargers passing game. He has caught 224 passes for 1,873 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.

If the Broncos did add Gordon, it could be a big help in allowing Phillip Lindsay to stay fresh so he could help the team in the long run.

The Broncos will have plenty of money. If they cut quarterback Joe Flacco (which seems inevitable at this point) before June 1st, they would save $10,050,000 million in cap space. They currently have $41,187,914 available.

Denver has already made a big splash in the trade department, acquiring A.J. Bouye from the Jacksonville Jaguars. This coming because the team won’t be getting Chris Harris Jr. back.

This could be a pretty different Broncos roster in 2020. If Gordon heads to the Mile High City, I believe it would be a lot of fun for them, as well as Broncos Country.
