The Denver Broncos signed RB Theo Riddick a week ago, but he will be lost for multiple weeks. What does the team do now in his absence?

The Broncos will be without Theo Riddick for 6-8 weeks after the running back suffered a slight fracture to his shoulder in Thursday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Per Mike Klis, the injury will not require surgery.

It is a tough blow for the Broncos, who have lost a number of offensive players this early in the year. One way you can look at it though, is that with three more preseason games to go, Riddick will likely only miss the first three or five games of the regular season.

Still, Riddick would have been a nice addition for this Broncos offense. Unfortunately, the team will have to wait for him to make an impact when the games truly matter.

Riddick’s injury puts an interesting twist on the Broncos final 53-man roster. Will this pave the way for a guy like Devontae Booker to make the team? Or will one of the other running backs step up in Riddick’s place during the next couple of preseason games and earn their way onto the team?

The injury bug is starting early again.

The Broncos already lost offensive lineman Nico Falah to a season-ending injury during OTA’s. They also will be without fullback Andy Janovich for a while. On defense, they will be without linebacker Joe Jones for several weeks.

Next. Now is George Aston’s time to shine for the Denver Broncos. dark

Injuries happen. There is no way around that. Unfortunately, the number of preseason games has been a topic of discussion for a while. Teams want those exhibition games in order to figure out who best fits their roster so they can have a good idea of who makes the team.

Now, the Broncos face a difficult decision at the running back position. It will be interesting to see what they do.

Stay tuned.
