Although Nick Williams is in his seventh season and playing for his fifth NFL team, the pressure is on to perform in the preseason.
His status on the Broncos’ roster depends on it.
As of right now, the Broncos seem to be under no obligation to keep six wide receivers. It feels like the running backs will be utilized in the passing game heavily as well as the tight ends, so it almost seems to make more sense to carry an extra guy at one or both of those spots versus receiver.
That’s why the pressure is on Williams, and really a variety of receivers on the Broncos’ roster. The team will be able to sneak at least one player, if not two, onto their practice squad. They need someone to step up and prove to this coaching staff that they can’t live without them.
So far, Williams seems to be making a strong impression and he’s well-versed in the type of offense the Broncos are running.
