Former NFL star receiver Reggie Wayne has huge praise for Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who is entering year two of his career.
The Denver Broncos and their players are getting praise from a couple of former Indianapolis Colts teammates.
Peyton Manning, who is also one of the best to ever don the Denver Broncos orange and blue, praised Von Miller as the best athlete he has ever played with.
Reggie Wayne, a player who could be considered the best receiver to ever play with Manning, knows a thing or two about the position. Which is why it’s highly notable when he makes a comment as he did about Broncos young receiver Courtland Sutton.
Sutton, entering year two in the NFL, is poised for a breakout year. Wayne seems to think he’s going to set a new standard at the position for his age class.

Sutton had 42 catches for 704 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie season. He caught exactly 50 percent of his 84 targets a season ago, and the Broncos are counting on him to take a huge leap in year two as a primary target in their passing game.
Of course with Emmanuel Sanders, DaeSean Hamilton, and a group of tight ends and running backs with plenty of young talent, Sutton will have to prove his worthiness of a large number of targets, but he’s certainly capable of that.
Wayne sees something big forthcoming for the 6-foot-4 jump ball maven.
He also makes some really good points in the interview (click the tweet to watch it) about receivers going from year one to year two. Really for any position in the NFL, this is probably true, but Sutton’s struggles last year to beat press coverage were likely the result of his getting used to the speed of the game and winning before the snap.
Once the game slows down for him some — and he feels like it has already — the sky is the limit with his catch radius and overall skill-set. Sutton is not a burner in the speed department, but he’s capable of winning vertically on a consistent basis and has elite short area quickness.
How much can Sutton improve in year two? Reggie Wayne seems to think he’s going to take an astronomical leap.
