Fifth round (b): Chase Roullier, OL, Wyoming (Redskins)

Original pick: Isaiah McKenzie, WR, Georgia

It would have been hard for the Broncos to foresee the situation playing out with Matt Paradis like it did this far out, but their interior line depth has been an issue the past couple of seasons and Chase Roullier has become a very nice player (starter) for the Washington Redskins.

And the Redskins got him out of the Broncos’ own backyard at Wyoming.

Roullier has graded out as one of the NFL’s better centers the past couple of years in pass protection and looks like he has a bright future in the league as a long-term starter.

Late-round picks are always a crapshoot, but taking Roullier would have fit the Broncos’ new profile of experienced college players and players with some ‘local’ ties. He could have been starting next to Paradis at center or he could have taken over for him and the Broncos could have kept Connor McGovern at guard.
