Tight End: Troy Fumagalli looks good

Strong complements from Vic Fangio are hard to come by for players, and he’s not one for hyperbole, but what he had to say about Troy Fumagalli was certainly notable.

Fumagalli, who was drafted in the fifth round by the Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft, was certainly working a bit from behind this offseason with a new head coach, new position coach, new offense, and a first-round draft pick at his position (Noah Fant).

Fangio said that Fumagalli has ‘surpassed expectations’ so far this offseason.

Rich Scangarello also commented on Fumagalli’s progress through the offseason program.

"“He’s doing great. Again, he was an unknown. No film on him. It’s hard to see what you have before you get here. He’s done a great job like a lot of guys we’re excited about. He works very hard at it. He has the right attitude. He’s competitive and he’s versatile. We’ll see where that takes him, but we’re excited to have him. He’s doing a good job.”"

The Broncos are in a position of luxury at the tight end spot if everyone remains healthy.

Last year’s starter, Jeff Heuerman, returned on a two-year contract in free agency.

Jake Butt is coming back from ACL surgery and recovery.

Noah Fant comes in as the team’s top draft choice.

The Broncos had a number of unfortunate injuries at this position last year so all four of these top players should be locks for the 53-man roster if all are healthy going into the season.
