Emmanuel Sanders’ health

Emmanuel Sanders’ Achilles is getting better and better by the day.

As a matter of fact, it’s doing so well that Fangio has a hunch Sanders will return to regular action before many seem to think he will.

"“You’re always concerned about everything, but I like our receivers. I like the way they’ve looked, and that’s when we haven’t had Emmanuel, like you said. I think Emmanuel is doing well physically. I’ve got no medical basis for this, but I think he’ll be back earlier than people think. I think Courtland [Sutton], DaeSean [Hamilton] and all the rest of the guys are doing well. I’m pleased with the receivers.” Vic Fangio (all quotes via Broncos PR)"

Even with no ‘medical basis’ for saying what he said, Fangio didn’t just throw this kind of comment out for everyone else recovering from an injury.

The Broncos obviously made a substantial investment in Sanders to bring him back, and for good reason. Despite suffering injuries in each of the past two seasons, Sanders has been such a key player for the Broncos offensively and was on his way to another 1,000-yard season in 2018 before the Achilles rupture.

The Broncos picked up his team contract option and have him on the books this season for more than $10.9 million.

That was a pretty big leap of faith to pay his option and hope he could be ready for the regular season, and it looks like Sanders has a good chance to be a full participant at the start of training camp.
