First Round

Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

The Denver Broncos showed in the 2018 NFL Draft that they highly value experience along with proven on-field talent.

Justin Herbert could very well be the number one overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft (if he declares) but I outlined in my latest full first-round mock why the Giants — or whoever else — might not exactly feel the pressure to select him that high.

Comparing him to the 2018 class, Herbert would probably rank right behind Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold in terms of his upside and current level of abilities. He’s shown a lot while at Oregon, but questions linger about his injury history and the fact that he’s still missing some pretty basic throws in his progressions.

That said, this is a natural talent with NFL size and arm, and a good feel for the position overall. He’s got what it takes to be a starter in the NFL and if the Broncos have a shot at him, they will probably take it unless some blue chip player is still on the board when they pick.
