Courtland Sutton, WR

Courtland Sutton is just a rookie, but he’s a rookie with very high expectations given the number of crazy plays he made in training camp and in the preseason.

He’s not doing a bad job. As a matter of fact, I gave Sutton a solid grade for his work against the Ravens, especially as a blocker. But he’s now dropped a pass in consecutive weeks, and his drop against the Ravens contributed to a weird spiral out of control for the Broncos before they ultimately just couldn’t get back into the game.

On 3rd-and-10 with less than a minute left in the first half, Sutton had only Eric Weddle in between him and the rest of the field and who knows how long he might have run had he caught a perfect pass from Case Keenum.

Sutton has had a few ‘almost’ plays the past two weeks, more ‘almost’ plays than he has had actual plays. That is going to have to change as the Broncos have been entrusting Sutton with a lot of snaps.
