Denver Broncos: Four players in danger of not making the roster
Paxton Lynch, QB
Paxton Lynch was quoted recently as saying he doesn’t want to be a ‘third string’ quarterback.
This wasn’t him making any demands to the Broncos, but rather the former first-round pick stating he simply doesn’t want to be playing at the level he has lately.
That level is, unfortunately, very low.
Lynch has struggled since he was drafted to show any signs of improvement as a player, which is why he went from competing for the starting job in 2017 with Trevor Siemian to potentially not playing at all in the team’s third preseason game against the Washington Redskins in 2018.
Chad Kelly has taken over the Broncos’ backup quarterback job, and if he shows more signs of improvement against the Redskins, he might prevent the Broncos from feeling the need to go out and get a veteran ’emergency’ player at the position.
Lynch’s spot on the roster may not even be in question at this point. It seems highly unlikely he makes the team as the third quarterback and the ‘bubble’ might burst before the preseason is even finished.
