Former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Orlando Franklin announced his retirement on Saturday after seven years in the NFL.
Life in the National Football League is never forever. For Orlando Franklin, his time playing football has come to an end. The seven year offensive lineman has decided to hang up the cleats in order to focus on a career as a father.
That is correct. Orlando Franklin decided that he would like to focus on life as a father. That was his biggest reason for deciding to retire. He retires from the NFL at the age of 30.
Franklin is a former second round pick by the Denver Broncos. He became a quality starter for the Broncos during his time with the franchise. He signed with the Los Angeles Chargers during the 2015 offseason after the Broncos made it known they were not going to bring him back.
After a short two seasons with the Chargers, he moved to Washington. However, he would only play one season there. It was after that short stint in the Nation’s Capital that he decided to call it quits.
During his seven year career, he started in 89 of the 90 games he played in. That is quite an accomplishment. Having to transition from football is never an easy choice for some. But Orlando Franklin has a reason for the transition. We couldn’t be happier for him.

There are more important things to life than football. Choosing to be there for his son and family is a perfect reason to retire from the sport. Hopefully he can find live the rest of his life in pure happiness. I have no doubt he will.
Congrats on a great career Orlando Franklin. Wishing you all the best in life after football.
