The Denver Broncos used their seventh and final round pick on Arkansas running back David Williams. How can his skills impact the Broncos roster?

With the final pick in the draft, the Denver Broncos decided to get another running back. They went with Arkansas’ very own David Williams.

This brings the Denver Broncos running backs to four. With Devontae Booker and DeAngelo Williams the only players on the roster at the position, it became a need for the team. In the third round, the Broncos drafted Royce Freeman. David Williams looks to bring that bruiser role that was carried by C.J. Anderson. The Broncos released him shortly before the draft to save money.

Having David Williams on the roster gives the team some options on who can take over on as the third running back. We know that Devontae Booker and DeAngelo Henderson will carry the bulk of the carries. At least for the time being.

With his big frame, he could get the call on some goal line situations. The Denver Broncos struggled to find the end zone for most of the season. This is true when it comes to red zone situations. The Broncos ranked at the bottom in red zone touchdown efficiency. Having a bruiser to churn the football in goal to go situations from three yards or less out can help finish off drives.
