The Denver Broncos have brought in four running backs for pre-draft visits, as far as we know, and the most recent pair to come to Dove Valley could provide us with some day three intrigue.
According to reports, the Broncos have hosted Rutgers running back Gus Edwards and Virginia State’s Trenton Cannon for official pre-draft visits.
These visits were reported by Mike Klis.
Along with San Diego State’s Rashaad Penny and USC’s Ronald Jones, the Broncos are literally looking from East to West to try and find some help at the running back position.
There are persisting rumors that C.J. Anderson could be traded on draft weekend, and that’s likely contingent on the Broncos finding a back that suits them sometime on day two or early on day three.

If the Broncos want Penny or Jones, they may have to spend a second round pick on them. If they want Edwards or Cannon?
They might be able to land those guys on day three, or even as undrafted players.
Despite their projected draft status, these four backs all bring something different to the table. Edwards, a 6-foot-1, 235 pound battering ram, transferred to Rutgers from Miami and had a very successful senior season.
He averaged 4.3 yards per carry with six touchdowns on the ground and another touchdown as a receiver.
He’s a physical back who invites contact, and breaks tackles with relative ease.
Trenton Cannon is a 5-foot-10, 185 pound back who excelled against a lower level of competition at Division II Virginia State, but proved he’s an NFL caliber athlete with a pro day at Richmond that included a 4.40 second 40-yard dash, 38.5-inch vertical jump, and 17 bench press reps.
Either of these backs would be excellent in camp as undrafted players.
