If the Broncos are looking to add to their defense, Leighton Vander Esch could be a solid option. We take a deeper look at the Boise State linebacker.

The Denver Broncos have an interesting situation at inside linebacker. While the team did sign Todd Davis to a three year deal. The team also has a solid inside linebacker in Brandon Marshall. However, I am skeptical on Todd Davis’ ability to cover in the passing game. Something that Leighton Vander Esch could do.

Running backs and tight ends have really hurt the Denver Broncos defense in passing situations. I remember watching a game against the Atlanta Falcons and how the running backs were catching passes and really pouring it on the defense.

This is where I can see Leighton Vander Esch really helping the Denver Broncos defense. He is a prospect from Boise State. And if you think he can only cover in the passing game, I have some news for you.

This inside linebacker can get to the quarterback! It is almost like watching a torpedo zipping right up the middle of the field and crushing the opposing quarterbacks. Being able to create pressure, stop the run, and defend the pass is something the Denver Broncos could really need.

Depending on how the draft falls, Vander Esch could be available in the second round. But I have seen most mock drafts eyeing him as a late first round pick. If that is true, then the only way I can see Denver drafting him is if they trade back with a team. Looking for a team that is searching for a quarterback could be a ideal trading partner.

Having Leighton Vander Esch in the Denver Broncos defense might help this team get back to that Orange Crush defense. I would enjoy watching the Broncos draft the Boise State prospect.
