The Denver Broncos are likely going to look at adding a tight end during the offseason. South Dakota State’s Dallas Goedert could be a name to watch.

Tight end is going to be a big need for the Denver Broncos going into the 2018 season. Virgil Green likely will not be back. Jeff Heuerman has not been producing. Jake Butt will be coming off injured reserve. If Butt can produce, the Denver Broncos will still need a second tight end that can help out. This is where South Dakota State tight end Dallas Goedert could come into play.

I briefly talked about Dallas Goedert during my last mock draft back in January. He has the comparisons of Rob Gronkowski, which is not a bad comparison. With the Denver Broncos needing a tight end, Goedert could be a solid option in day two of the draft if they do not find one in free agency.

Dallas Goedert is a former basketball player turned football player. There is always something about former basketball players turned tight ends that make them successful. Denver had that experience with Julius Thomas. Sadly it did not work out. Perhaps this could be what the Broncos need.

Lance Zierlein gives his analysis of Dallas Goedert on NFL.com. His strengths include separation from the linebackers and he could become a solid defender in blocking edge rushers. Having a tight end that can catch and block is something that the Denver Broncos need.

My only concern with him is the increase from small school competition to NFL competition. Playing in a Division Two school could give Dallas Goedert some difficulty getting up to NFL speed. That will come with time.

If the Denver Broncos are looking to improve at tight end in the draft, I would look towards scouting Dallas Goedert. I do not think John Elway would be disappointed.
