Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson, fresh off his first career 1,000 yard season, has joined the Kirk Cousins campaign…

It’s been a pretty interesting day in Denver Broncos Country, with a couple of key players from the Super Bowl 50 team expressing interest in the Broncos bringing in free agent-to-be quarterback Kirk Cousins in the coming months.

Von Miller was the first to express this at Super Bowl media day, saying that he thought Cousins could help put the Broncos ‘over the edge’.

After Miller made these claims (which came just a couple of weeks after Brandon Marshall made his own desire for Cousins known on NFL Network…), running back C.J. Anderson also made known his desire to see Cousins in Denver next season:

Anderson also joked that he likes Saquon (Barkley) but doesn’t necessarily want him to be the pick at number five overall.

DeMarcus Ware offered up the scenario of Cousins coming to Denver, and Anderson’s initial response was ‘it would be huge’.

"“It would be huge. Having a guy like Kirk, veteran guy, been through it…It’d be huge to come to us — a veteran team — we know some pieces gonna change but if we can keep some pieces on the offensive end — myself, Emmanuel, and DT — bring in Kirk Cousins our offense can be what we want it to be for the future.”C.J. Anderson went on to say that if John Elway can make it happen, joking that even if he had to dip into ‘that car money’ (alluding to Elway’s past professional endeavors) that he should find a way.

The irony here is that Anderson’s $4.5 million cap number for next year is one of the most expendable on the Broncos’ roster. He has no dead money against the Broncos’ cap if they release him or trade him in the coming months, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens here or if Anderson is part of the very equation he’s just described in freeing up the cap space to get Cousins.

Personally, I love Anderson and what he’s done for the Broncos. He’s one of the team’s most valuable players in terms of his pass protection, and for him to get 1,000 yards this past year with the team’s passing game being a complete joke, I was impressed.
