Sixth Round

Virginia. Kurt Benkert. 185. player. 45. The Denver Broncos have a first round quarterback that has not panned out yet and are non-committal to giving Chad Kelly an opportunity. In this scenario the Broncos signed Kirk Cousins as their starting quarterback. While at 29, there is no guarantees he will have sustained success. This gives John Elway the opportunity to pounce on another quarterback in the NFL Draft. Kurt Benkert presents a very interesting skill set. Benkert has underrated mobility and NFL caliber arm to make all the throws. However, inconsistencies creep in every once and awhile. Decision making is erratic at times, but it is a special attribute when it clicks. Benkert presents traits that might move him up in the draft. But due to those inconsistencies, Benkert fell to sixth round.. Quarterback

We certainly do not know the future of the quarterback situation. Yet, the Denver Broncos appear to have a possible plan in place of who they will pursue. Both Kirk Cousins and Baker Mayfield are rumored to be the top targets for Denver. In this Mock Draft scenario, the Broncos signed their starting quarterback for the season and many seasons: Cousins.

Broncos could concievably draft Benkert earlier if they feel like it. This would make for the same scenario Cousins found himself in the 2012. The only difference is the Broncos did not draft a quarterback in the first round. Benkert’s value might be seen by new executive Gary Kubiak at the Senior Bowl, as well as John Elway. Benkert could rise.
